Fill 'er up with chocolate biodiesel

I imaging the Daryl Hannah would drink this in a heartbeat (and, come to think of it, John McCain might, too): biodiesel made from the waste that comes out of a chocolate factory. Delicious. The details are as follows. Waste chocolate from a chocolate factory in the UK is used by Ecotec to make biodiesel. The final cost is 15 pence a liter. For those of us used to dollars and gallons, that equals 31 cents a liter, or $1.16 US a gallon) In the near future, the fuel will be used by a team of adventurers to travel from the UK to Timbuktu, in what the Lancashire Evening Post is calling the "world's first carbon negative vehicle expedition." I'm skeptical of the claim, but I don't doubt the tasty biofuel is up to the challenge.

Whats with those people who give the allusion that we could somehow power a nationally significant number of cars on waste vegetable oils and tallows.
When what we're really talking about is less than 1% of current demand.
Meanwhile we could displace 3% of current demand just by inflating our tires better.
Tired of this gimmicky bullsh!t.

These demonstrations are getting old. They keep bubbling up in the news and create a false impression of being a panacea.

Sure, it's not a global fix, but I see no sign of anyone rushing to develop that global solution to our fossil fuel dependency. In the meantime, if this inspires even just a handful of enthusiasts to actually have a go and convert their main vehicle to carbon-neutral fuels, then sure, it won't solve the world's problems, but it will decrease their personal carbon footprints.
OK, it's no panacea, but it's not a bad thing either.
