Shell installs a hydrogen fuel station in White Plains

Shell Hydrogen LLC and the City of White Plains, New York, have installed a hydrogen vehicle fueling station in the city's department of public works. The nice part of this station is that it generates hydrogen with electricity obtained from renewable sources.
Production of hydrogen is expected to be 30 kg per day, which will make unnecessary the installation of pipes or other kind of transport network. According to White Plains Mayor Joseph Delfino, "The station enables White Plains to continue our research and demonstration programming for alternate fuels for which we are recognized throughout the Northeastern region."
The station is part of a U. S. Dept. of Energy program in which Shell provides hydrogen and General Motors the fuel cell vehicles. GM will supply more than 30 Chevrolet Equinox Fuel Cell SUVs to private and commercial customers in Westchester County who will take part in the "Project Driveway" test drive.

I see that the COST of the hydrogen is carefully omitted.

30kg of hydrogen per day will fill up about 5 cars per day. Hopefully those 30 equinoxes don't all show up at once.

That's 1 down, 999,999,999 to go.

Note that this is for the city fleet and not the general public. Hho else could afford overpriced vehicles running on overpriced fuels?
How long will it be before they quietly close it up and scrap it for lack of business?

Don't worry, they will continue adding new station regardless of the cost as long as they can milk uncle sam for the green and come up on top.

My guess is that the Hydrogen comes from Shell's other product, natural gas as in:
"We're running out of cocaine but we don't want the party to end yet either. So, here's a sample of our heroin. Don't worry, it's good for you and will help you lose weight. See all the pretty green colors? No, just follow the white rabbit. Cooooolllll..."
Let’s all sing: One drug makes you smaller and one makes you tall, but the one the greenies give you, doesn’t do anything at all…

Correction. THIS station's H2 comes from renewable sorces. Kind of like that first "free" sample. Everyone knows that the cheapest way to make H2 is by reforming "Natural" gas so this is truly about changing our addiction from one product they control to another.

Hydrogen pricing seems to be the main concern here. Without self-promoting, Forevergreen Enterprises is able to produce pure, GREEN, hydrogen from industrial and hazardous waste streams. In production we are paid to relieve generators of their long term liabilities associated with hazardous waste, and produce fuel much cheaper than current gasoline pricing. With 290 million tons of hazardous waste produced every year, there is PLENTY of feedstock for us to produce enough hydrogen to pave the way for foreign oil independence! This will be the wave of the future.
