Video: Jeremy Clarkson reviews G-Wiz
Below the fold is a video of Jeremy Clarkson, of the TV show Top Gear, reviewing the all electric G-Wiz. The review of the G-Wiz starts at 2 minutes 45 seconds after Jeremy makes fun of French sport cars. Highlights from the review of the G-Wiz include a race between the G-Wiz and a table, which ends very much like Top Gear's race between Jason and the Th!nk electric car.
Jeremy says the G-Wiz has no redeeming features and that God has not created a creature that can fit in the back seat. You drive the G-Wiz to save the world, Jeremy explains, because we used to have such nice weather. He, of course, is being sarcastic because British weather sucks. He then suggests people "buy a Range Rover and warm this country up." I doubt the results of the crash test between the table and G-Wiz because the table never moved.
The review ends at 7 minutes with Jeremy, for the second time, suggesting you get a table instead of a G-Wiz. After 7 minutes Jeremy goes back to insulting the French. Watch it after the jump.

And... they're dead on really. Oh, I know full well *why* the G-Wiz is so small. A smaller car is more efficient, and with battery power, that means better range and higher top speed.
Oh wait, the G-wiz is an NEV, tops out at 45MPH, and has a 48 mile range. Compare that to a Solectria Force, which was a highway-speed car with the same range, and twice the seating capacity (with four doors even!), you have to wonder what's the point of making them so small.

I think the idea behind the GWiz is much like that behind the Corbin Sparrow, it's all the car you need for the vast majority of your car trips. 5 days a week, 50 weeks a year the vast majority of working Americans sit down alone in our cars to drive to work. In most cases that trip is less than 15 miles.
Sure a Force is more car (it also sold for about $30,000), but how often are you really putting people in your back seats? The problem is not with the design of the GWiz, it's with people's perceptions of what they need their second (or third) car to be able to do.

Uh, GoodCheer, the problem is EXACTLY the design. It looks and feels and works like a big POS. please, the thing is beyond stupid. Sad that it doesn't have to be, but is.
Why do you think he is dumping (pun intended) on it so much?

Clarkson hates all things environmentally friendly. He's forged a career out of being bullish and arrogant about the environment. Irrespective of its design, the Gwiz suits urban situations. Clarkson, meanwhile, will choose to pay the £25 congestion charge to drive into central London come Feb 08 in his GT40, presumably on license payers money.

The show's name is "Top Gear" and the G-Wizzzz is absolutely NOT top gear! Clarkson never claimed to be an "environmentalist" and is therefore not a “do what I say, not what I do” hypocrite like Al "green" Gore, the Clintons or 99.9% of “environmentalists.” And yes, it is a nice table…

I think that one just has to accept that these days Jeremy Clarkson is a comedian with a limited repertoire appealing to a lads-mag generation, rather than an objective motoring commentator.
Yes a G-Wiz has limited space, speed and range, but for myself it has enough of those things to cover 90% of my motoring by mileage. A Tesla, for example, would cover 100% of my journeys but it's not available and even if it were would cost many times more.
If you want to make a difference get one (or one of it's competitors) and make some serious inroads into the environmental impact of your motoring. If you want to be a cynic like Jeremy remember that his cynicism earns him a great deal of money. What does your cynicism earn you?

Why the test person not wearing the seat belt and shows, he is going out of the vehicle. How this possible. he is a good Hollywood actor.
the table is not moved bout the car got damaged. good video editing. i'm going to take one Holly wood movie. he will be the editor.
while doing the racing the car got brackdown. good he will be the good story writer.

Of course the whole Jeremy Clarkson video was edited and of course it was a video made to entertain - not as a serious road-test.
The G-Wiz is ok if you can afford a second car just to commute to and from work or just to drop little Johnny off at school each day. The fact that it costs only pennies to run is nice but for £8.000 you could buy an awful lot of petrol to put into your "normal" car.
How many tons of CO2 do you reckon you have pumped into the atmosphere whilst you have been earning that extra £8000 to buy the G-Wiz?
If Reva would sell the G-Wiz for something a lot less than £8000 - And let's face it, with Indian pay-scales being what they are, the price could be considerably less - More sense could be made from owning one.
