Honda adding diesel to Civic Type-R, in Europe at least

In markets outside of North America, drivers have long had a great selection of high-performance Hondas that we don't get. One case in point is the Civic Type-R. Now it looks like our overseas friends will go even one better when Honda adds a diesel engine option to the Type-R. The Japanese engine wizards are working on a high-revving variant of the new 2.2L diesel that's coming to the new Accord in Europe next year. In the Accord the diesel gets 180hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. Fortunately we will be getting the diesel in our own Accord in 2009, but it sure would be fun to have that engine in our Civic. How about a Civic SiD?
