Chevy describes its car as "vegetarian" in TV ad
I saw a TV commercial for a Chevy flex fuel car last night. The format for the ad was a lot like the Chevy Volt commercial: kids learning about a car outdoors with a teacher. The interesting part of the ad was the teacher's description of the flex fuel car as "vegetarian." I find the description of a GM car as vegetarian odd considering the Hummer, which, like Chevy is a unit of GM, uses ads that say tofu munchers must buy the Hummer to "restore your manhood." I can't wait to see how they advertise the Tahoe hybrid.

I've seen that series of Earth-friendly Chevy vehicles. There is one about their "vegetarian" ethanol cars. What gets me is that their ethanol those cars run on is largely produced with fossil fuels, only releasing 30% more energy than it takes to produce it. I wonder how many ethanol car drivers know the truth about their "green" vehicles.

If the corporations keep teaching America's youth via television pretty soon they won't be able to go to the bathroom without a picture book. Ethanol is no answer, it is their answer. They can keep all the corporate fascist wheels turning with that one. The oil companies, farm subsidies, everyone gets a piece. They are teaching the young people how to be willing obedient slaves.

Back to the issue. I still kind of agree with poster #2. This commercial was totally over the top. The only things missing from it were happy bunnies jumping around and some guy from San Francisco biting a pillow on the hood of the car.

Soo .. here we go again. Why would you limit all brands within GM to similar ads, like you insinuate that ethanol cars shouldn't be advertised as such, as long as GM makes the Hummer?
Are toyotas Prius and Tundra ads similar? (and that's the same marquee).
Now, flex-fuels might be a load of crap, but that's on the government, not GM.

Not my point at all. Liberal and conservative are just tags the ruling class use to divide the sheep. The corporations have an agenda, and it usually runs contrary to nature and common sense, that was my only point. As to the school system, well the entire society is going down hill, that includes the schools. You must admit the corporations have their dirty paws all over that one too.

I dont know why ethanol is being proped up to be so big (well, I guess I do (cause there is BIG money involved), but the focus should be on electric cars and hybrids, Our electricity comes from our power plants.....(thankfully)its not something that can be out sourced to China. We should stay focused on building more powerplants, and better battery techologies to be used to vehicles.

I don't subscribe to your conspiracy theory regarding the ruling class and libs and cons being just labels. But I know what you mean and I'd have to agree that corporations have agendas like everybody else and that particular agendas might not be in everyone's best interest. But the problem is who is to determine what is in accordance with nature and common sense. I'm not sure I could. Regarding these commercials, GM is just telling us what it thinks we want to hear and what it is told to do. The tree hugger vegetarian message is perceived by them to be right on target for the car. The rainbow coalition in the commercial is because they don't want a civil lawsuit from the ACLU or Al Sharpton. Trust me, GM would rather be telling us prospective buyers something else than this drivel. I am a prospective buyer for this car and I don't appreciate being talked to like a child but I can understand why they do it and I don't really hold it against them.

I guess when it comes to the answers, I guess all of them are wrong, who is right and who is wrong, flex fuel corperations, the government, the car company. You have to admit that at least GM is catching on the idea of better fuel efficiency, and geared toward cleaner cars. we have a planet to think about, at least give Gm credit even if some of thier ideas are cheesy

I find it really disturbing that greed for the almighty dollar is driving farmers to convert FOOD to fuel to blow out the azz of cars while each day perhaps as many as 40,000 people die of starvation on this earth!
Ant to think some dimwits call that "green" as in conserving the earth's resources?

Do the research, those that are dissing biofuels are 100% wrong.
The concerted effort to smear the possibilties do so with a hidden agenda.

THE WONDERFUL ADVANTAGES OF ETHANOL:
It is HIGHLY CORROSSIVE
It delivers20-30% less energy to your engine
It is hygroscopic(MAKES WATER)to further reduce engine efficiency.
It has about a 50 day life before it sludges--dont keep it in any stored vehicle.
It takes more energy to make a gallon of etonal fuel than gasoline---
It makes corn a highly prized commodity and therefore food prices higher.
IM IN THE WRONG BUSINESS !!!!!!

I understand a Hummer is the first thing Larry David bought after the divorce to Environmentalist Laurie David was final. No word on what happened to the Prius.

Ethanol, especially from corn, is certainly not an efficient use of valuable food and valuable farmland and is driving the price of virtually all food up and up all over the world. Our government and our car manufacturers should be ashamed. An electric car, using electricity from a coal burning power plant, is not helping the environment, either. We live in anamazing world of ignorance.
