Chinese company showing off new $2,600 fuel cell bike
Using a bicycle as an alternative mode of transportation to a car can certainly be an appealing proposition sometimes. But if you live in a city that's got a lot of hills it can be pretty tough going too. In those times a little assist can come in handy and a new bike from the Shanghai Pearl Hydrogen Power Source Technology Co. can help. They're showing off a fuel cell assisted bike at a conference in China.
The bike has a 60-mile range and can cruise at 15 mph. At $2,600 this "stylish" has a price that is a little steeper than many high-end bikes. They will surely get the price down in time, but the setup on this particular unit looks less than high tech.

Yet another prime example to why H2 is not a good vehicle fuel. Considering price, performance, range, and fuel costs, the H2 fuel cell version inevitably comes in last behind battery electricm hybrid, and conventional IC engine versions.

It doesn't look hi tech, but it looks functional.
It is like something out of a fifty's magazine.
A couple of solar panels and you have fuel for the next thirty years or so. No need to replace batteries! Just flush out the bubblers. The excess oxygen could be fed to your garden.
Grow a couple of rubber trees and your set.
I wouldn't blow hydrogen off quite yet, for obvious reasons.
