Citroën to show hybrid C-Cactus at Frankfurt

Here is another preview from the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show. Citroën will show off a cool little hybrid concept called the C-Cactus. Citroen thinks C-Cactus could compete with the Prius, going on sale very soon at about the same price. The C-Cactus is powered by a 70 Hp diesel and 30 Hp electric motor. The most interesting thing about the car however is probably the interior design.
The C-Cactus is very simple and stylized using very few parts in the construction. The door and seats are made from just two parts each for example. You won't need to open the window, so Citroen provides a slider in the door. You can put the car in an all-electric or ZEV(Zero Emission Vehicle) mode for city driving. The mat is recycled and many parts of made from cork, a very green material.
Over all the car is light, doesn't emit a lot of CO2 and uses fuel efficiently. Check out the gallery for a closer look at the touch screen MP3 player and flower+butter fly prints all over the car.... ah, I hope that's not standard. Anyway, the C-Cactus may be the green star at the Frankfurt Auto Show from the very green Citroën. We will have more details when the show actually starts September 13.

Seriously, interesting design except for that "thing" between the driver and passenger. Seems like a waste of space. Of course I like the zev capability.
But whatever, it's not coming to America. *sighs

#2: No, it will not be produced, but it gives some hints how the next C3 (in 2009?) might look like. At least the door handles and the face are details that we will see again.

Minor quibble: It's "Cactus", not "Catcus" - you can see it spelled out on the rear bumper.
I like the interior design, though I understand that it wouldn't suit everyone.
Unfortunately, the Cactus Concept looks like a "flight of fancy" concept that won't be produced - it looks odd, has a glass roof, an odd steering wheel, and the dash is totally impractical.

Chris, Corrected. Thanks. At least I got the title right. You are correct. It is a concept. A few things in the PR like "aim to market" seem to hint at a release. They always do that kind of thing will concepts. There are cars with a lot of glass like Citroen C4 Picasso.

I have to ask the same question here that I do of the Volt designers: What happened to everything we know about aerodynamics? As if that huge tall bulbous nose weren't enough, they then put a double bubble on the cabin (presumably to give more headroom to the rear seats). Wouldn't it be simpler AND more efficient to make one smooth roofline?

Why must efficient vehicles always be designed so badly? Why not a hybrid that looks like the Citroen DS? Why not a Prius that looks like a Supra or an MR-2?

The most articles says that citroen c-cactus going on sale at about the same price of citroen C4(10.000-14.000 euro). That is far away of toyota prius price(23.000 euro)... What prise is true?

ATHINA, The idea is it would be price like the C4 but compete with the Prius because of the emphasis on the interior design. The interior is very conceptual however. The only thing I would take from this car is, Citroën is considering a cheap, small car you can optimize along the lines of a Scion xB.
