RAV4 EV going for cheap (currently) on eBay

I don't think I'm going to spoil this auction for anyone by mentioning it on our site here. These things get a life of their own.
While this Toyota RAV4 EV up for sale is currently going for just over five grand, the way these popular electric cars sell on the eBay auction site, I'm sure it'll reach $60,000 or so by the time the auction ends on the 24th. So, if you're interested an EV with 71,000 miles on it and a fresh battery pack (the seller says it has an estimated 2,000 - 16,000 miles on it), check it out. Just don't think you're going to get the car at the current price. It's been a while (I think) since a RAV4 EV made an appearance on eBay, so it'll be interesting to see what the final price is.

Already way up, now maybe you can hit up the seller for a donation to ABG.

What was the point of this article? It seems like free advertising for the e-bay seller in order to pump the price up. Was the seller the one who posted the article, I wonder?

It was likely to show that there is a demand and a market for EV's. To show that this older, used EV still commands such a price and is desirable.
The most exciting thing about all this is that Toyota still makes the RAV4! They still have the prints for the electric model. They could bring this vehicle back to the market with today's batteries!

"Performance: An estimated 0-50 MPH in 12.9 seconds"
That kind of performance for an electric car is so XX century :(
Better put the 60 grand into a deposit for a Tesla Roadster.

ABG's mention of this auction will hardly matter: Currently just over $35K, it has yet to meet reserve. If history is a guide, the serious bidders know exactly what they'll pay - and are waiting on the sidelines until the end.
Meanwhile, I'm still hoping to find a reasonably priced EV capable of handling my short commute. No luck yet...

Did I READ that right? It has a fresh (recondtioned?) battery pack that has an estiamted 2-16K miles? That means if you drive it another 71,000 muiles, the battery packs have been changed between 5 and 20 times?!??!? What did they replace their's with, Never-Ready's? Something is not right. From various souces, the pack weighs over 500Kg and costs $20,000 - 26,000 USD to replace (with new cells). Considering that some folks are getting 100,000-150,000 miles on their RAV4 EVs, this person is NOT taking very good care of the car. I can think of a LOT better way to spend $60K and do a LOT more for the environment.

No, Steven, I do not think you read that right.

...and the last-minute bidders appeared, but only pushed it up to $40.1K. Not enough to meet reserve.

It's back, this time eBay item 330162609437.
Hmmm - 19 bids and only a little over $20K right now. Don't these people look at prior auctions? If you aren't willing to bid up to the reserve, you might as well stay home...

Finally, reserve met somewhere near the current price as I write this, $49995. But still 2 days left...

It just closed: $49995 is enough to win it.
How about an EV for the rest of us?
