Compensate for the thirst of your RV with a portable solar charger

If you have an RV you know how they generally love to consume fuel at a prodigious pace. Well now there's an option for powering your electrical devices when it's parked without having to run the engine. The Sunforce 60W solar charger can charge a 12V battery and also includes a 175W inverter so you can plug in your coffee maker or TV when you're on location. The system measures 54" x 42" X 12" and weighs in at 60 lbs. You can use it anywhere you have some sun and it also has a diode that will keep a battery from discharging when the light goes away. Amazon is charging $400 for your clean portable electricity.

I would not plug a coffee maker in! They often use over 1,000 watts!

Mike, the solar panels charge some batteries, and then the appliance (coffee make in your case) will draw the X amont of watts from the battery.

Yeah but the inverter is only rated at 175 watts.

"What is a RV?"
Recreation Vehicle, also known as "camper" or "caravan". Like a small home on wheels, it is for people who want to "get away from it all" but take it all with them.
Actually, this isn't really new, solar chargers have long been used on RVs. One area where solar power has long been economically competitive is for electrical power at remote sites, compared to the cost of fuel for IC powered generators.

Better than runnning the main engine or a generator. That noise will drive you crazy when you're trying to enjoy the peace and quiet of the great outdoors.
