Crash test video: Toyota Prius

Despite its diminutive size, the Toyota Prius gets high ratings for its protection of occupants in crash tests. In NHTSA tests, the popular hybrid scores four stars in every category except one in which it earns the top rating of five stars. In IIHS testing, the Prius gets the highest rating, Good, in frontal offset and a Good for side impact when equipped with side-curtain air bags. Without side air bags the Prius receives a Poor rating in side tests. If you want a slow motion, closeup view of the tests, check out this video.
