New electric boat has goal of 100mph

The England-based team that currently holds the world waterspeed record in an electric-powered boat is building a new vessel to go over 100 mph. According to the Electric Record Team's website, construction is underway on a new hydroplane with a goal of shattering the team's current record at 68.09 mph. Helen Loney, shown above in the current record holder will again pilot the new boat. The teams say advanced motor and battery technology should get them over the century mark when they go for the record. For comparison, the unlimited world waterspeed record is 317.60 mph with a jet-engine-powered boat.
