Ever wonder how ethanol is made? Watch the videos below.

While was researching the article about DuPont that will be available tomorrow on our site, I ran across these videos on Pioneer's site. Pioneer is a subsidiary of DuPont, and is involved heavily with agriculture and ethanol production. I am sure that there are other processes for creating ethanol, and this one is based solely on what DuPont and Pioneer are doing, but it may be of interest anyway.
Tour an Ethanol Plant by clicking on the links below. Each of these videos will open in a separate window, and they are all in .wmv format.
- 1. Dry Milling
- 2. Liquefaction
- 3. Saccharification
- 4. Fermentation
- 5. Batch Fermentation
- 6. Distillation
- 7. Molecular Sieve
- 8. Distillers Grain
Remember, these videos are by DuPont. If you would like to visit their site, click here. Hope you enjoy the videos!

The bioethanol is one of the worst choice we can made as a society to move our cars....you see, its production will just move the problem of pollution, not eliminate it.
In fact, the higher rate of agricultural production will lead of more use of and abuse in chemical like pesticide and weedkiller, also fertiler, that will lead to more soil polution, water pollution.
Also the need of more and more machineries to harvest that will use petroleum based fuel or not, will also add to the atmospheric pollution and biofuel production pollution.
And the shear amount of "fuel" quantities needed to feed all the car in US, Asia and Europe, will have to be made to the expense of using earth field that is needed for food (cereal) production. Severl study have found that the earth cant support all these need at the same time. And we dont want to all our forest to use it as fuel producing field....
In fact any fuel industrially produced by the man is not a good alternative. In fact we need to develop to an acceptable and commercially viable source of energy that will not hurt the environment, inepuisable, and self renewable.
Electricity is one good exemple that can be bad or excellent. If the electricity is individually made at home with solar cell on the house and with solar "paint" ont the car, its a good exemple, also, electricity made with dam, wind ill .....but electricity made with petrol or coal its not a good idea.
We have to be smart to avoid pit trap, or other kind of company monopoly trying to sell a good base idea with the sole purpose in the back to make loads, bucket of $$$$ and do it the same way as the petroleum company are doing without caring about the earth health.
At the rate that the earth is falling, a short term solution is not enough....we need a drastic change in our thinking and everyday consumption pratice.
Electricity and fuel cell are the only really viable alternative for the enormous number of car (and still counting)that we put on the road each year.
