GM developing home-based hydrogen refueling station

According to USA Today, General Motors is building a prototype home hydrogen refueling station. Honda also has a home model in the works.

GM has been on a hydrogen binge lately, allowing journalists to drive the 4^th generation powerplant in the Sequel and announcing that 100 Equinox fuel-cell vehicles will be put into service next year. Officials are also on record that they want to have production fuel-cell vehicles around 2011.

The home refueling station could be powered by electricity or sunlight. It can be used as a backup until more hydrogen filling stations are built. California has just 23 stations with another 15 coming. Shell Oil, which is GM's partner in the hydrogen buildup, has immediate plans for only six of the multi-million-dollar stations.

2. Ah, the foolishness of Hydrogen! Using Hydrogen to store electrons to power an electric vehicle is 4X LESS efficient than just using batteries. http://www.physorg.com/news85074285.html. Fuel cells are NOT cheap and they have a very limited lifespan. Snicker…snicker… snicke…

3. Shell Oil, which is GM's partner in the hydrogen buildup, has immediate plans for only six of the multi-million-dollar stations. Duh... The vast majority of Hydrogen comes from reformed Natural Gas which is sold by... you guessed it... Shell Oil!! The Funds that own 59% of GM also own at least 10 times that much in oil company stocks. http://www.ev1.org/gmoil.htm. Here’s a good analogy: “Please help me kick my terrible addiction to cocaine? I’d be happy to! Here, try this miracle drug called Heroin. It can help you.” Good move Sherlock!

this person dont know much about Hydrogen is safer than petrol
his petrol car is the bomb
I am interested in using hydrogen to power my house
cant wait to units are cheaper for home use

6. Excuse me, Steve, but the unit being demoed by GM will not power your home. It takes power from your home to produce H2 to refill their proposed H2 fuel cell car.

Note the launch date for the "H2 economy" keeps slipping. It was to be in 2004, then 2010, then 2011 (announced in 2006), then pushed back to 2015 or maybe 2018, or maybe 2025... Hmm, always another delay, that future never seems to arrive.
