Michigan gets eight more ethanol pumps at Meijer gas stations

With the announcement from Meijer Friday that eight more Meijer gas stations now sell E85, the Midwest big box retailer is about half-way to its stated goal of having 20 ethanol pumps in Michigan by the end of 2006. Meijer's first E85 station opened in Warren last month, and eleven more will open soon (locations TBA). The ethanol pumps are part of a partnership between Meijer, GM, CleanFUEL USA and the State of Michigan to increase awareness and use of ethanol in GM's flex-fuel vehicles. Elizabeth Lowery, GM vice president of environment and energy, said in a press release that there are more than 140,000 flex-fuel GM vehicles in Michigan. And Meijer now has more ethanol pumps in Michigan than any other retailer. So my guess is that just about all 140,000 drivers have been filling up with standard gasoline for a while.

Meijer's eight new stations are:
  • 2777 Airport Road in Jackson
  • 5500 Clyde Park Avenue in Wyoming
  • 217 East US 223 in Adrian
  • 746 East 16th Street in Holland
  • 20401 Haggerty Road in Northville
  • 14640 Pardee Road in Taylor
  • 3145 Ann Arbor-Saline Road in Ann Arbor
  • 2474 West Hill Road in Flint
  • 29505 Mound Road in Warren
