Segway i2 and x2 Transporters
Earlier this month, Segway Inc., debuted its two Personal Transporters (PT), the versatile i2 (pictured) and the all-terrain x2. Both are equipped with "LeanSteer" which allows the driver to direct the electric vehicle just by simply leaning in the desired direction. Previously, drivers could only control backward and forward movement. The new Transporters are also equipped with a wireless controller to allow its owner to move it remotely as well as notify them if someone steps on the vehicle.
The i2 and x2 cost $4995 and $ 5495 respectively.

I actually got to see a Segway in person a few weeks back. A remarkable engineering feat, and a very impressive toy that looks like it would be fun.
But it strikes me as a solution for which there isn't any pressing problem. About the only thing it accomplishes is to provide a way to move short distances without getting much exercise. Since I need the exercise, I'll skip the toy, and walk.

I find that a lot of my car trips end of being pretty short, like 3-5 miles. I start up my car at least twice a day just to make the 3 mile trip into town. Considering these have a 24 mile range, and it only takes 10 cents of electricity to charge them, I feel like they could be an eco-friendly solution.
