Plug-in hybrid conversion kits a profitable venture

It's not only the oil companies that make money when gas prices soar. Aftermarket hybrid hackers (CNN Money's term) like EDrive or Hymotion that will turn your Prius into a 100 mpg plug-in version will soon be doing quite well, thank you (read more here). The two companies will be selling the conversion kits by the end of the year. The EDrive kit will cost you $12,000, installation, and Hymotion's kit is $500 more. Hymotion co-founder Ricardo Bazzarella said that in 12 months his company's kit would cost only $6,500. Even with the drop, Bazzarella said the profit margin would be around 20 to 25 percent. Until Toyota debuts the official plug-in Prius, there's money to be made in using less gas.

Sounds good any thing to help save resources and put cash in the economy. I just wish that someone would come up with some thing "US" not so "Wow man, it is only $10,000 I think I'll buy two, ONLY $5,000 I'll take three" could do. I like the fact people are coming up with new things I just wish it were for some of the old things. I would like sell my old Ranger pick up and get a diesel, buy a kit to make my own biodiesel from used vegtable oil. It would be nice to have those .50 to .80 a gallon fuel prices days back. Then again with out the hard times no body would come up with the ideas of tomarrow would they. Necessity the mmother of invention.

We have inexpensive ($600/kw) Lithium-Ion battery pack available. It fits into plugin conversion kits. Here is the listing on ebay.

I would like to find out if possible to convert full size Van GM or Ford to Hybrid Electric Vehicle or Plug-in-Hybrid, if so what is the cost approximately and who or which company is doing this.
Thank you,
