G-Wiz EV AC has greater range and higher top speed

The Reva G-Wiz electric vehicle is now available in AC. The new version of the G-Wiz DC has a higher top speed (45 mph) and can go 48 miles on a charge (if you're driving in economy mode). Compare this to the DC version's 40 mph top speed and 40-mile range.
The price is better, too. The DC version sells for £8,299, but the G-Wiz AC will be offered at an introductory price of £7,999 until the end of October. That month is also when the first deliveries of the AC are expected. In the near future, the DC's price will drop to £6,999
GoinGreen, the website that sells the G-Wiz, announced the changes yesterday. The website says that there are 500 of the vehicles in London and calls the city "the electric car capital of the world".

Will someone please bring this cute little awesome car to America. I live In Pasadena CA, And I want one. this is the coolest little car I've ever seen in my life. I like it I like it. and it's electric. it's perfect for driving around the city. Even with my Toyota Prius, I still have to put gasoline in it to drive around the city. this little G-Wiz Electric car would be perfect, no gasoline stops ever, and do all my City Errands. I like this car soo much. I want one. like I said, will someone please bring these cute little cars to our Country. I know several people that would buy one right now, including myself!

If allowed on Toronto, Ontario, Canada City streets I would purchase one today...as a senior on a meager fixed income this would be a perfect fit for my transportation needs, less expensive to operate plus none polluting. I am sure that I will end-up replacing my 91 olds with an electric scooter (realizing it limits transportation to shorter distances on nice days) before a NEV is allowed on Canadian Streets. Politicians and Environmental activists Targets do not exceed rhetoric; else we would be able to purchase and operate economical EV on our city streets.

Yes, this car is cutesy like the SMART fortwo, but the electric car market seems divided into 3 segments for now: ultra-expensive sports cars with awesome performance and range but 6 figure prices, ultra sub-compacts like this, and glorified golf carts. The last two categories are much cheaper but have very limited range and speed and are not fast enough for the highways. And don't even think about collisions in these tiny cars. They may have strong frames, but unlike Europe, America has too many mammoth SUVs running around that will crush you if you collide with one.
I want to get away from gasoline as much as everyone- we are hitting "Peak Oil" production and the IEA just predicted a worldwide fuel crunch in 2012. The car companies need to introduce affordable 2 & 4 door sedans that can go 65-75 mph, 100-300+ miles per charge and cost around $30K or less for most people. That is the mass market they need to hit. Or produce a hydrogen fuel car that runs in cold weather with 200-300 miles per fillup for $30-$40K instead of $800K-$1M.
GM is racing to mass produce such hydrogen fuel cars by 2012 as you can see why. Just don't forget to also sell us home refueling stations that we can add water to and plug-in in our garages, since the hydrogen infrastructure will cost trillions and won't be in place for many decades probably.
Tesla Motors is working on more affordable electric sedans and Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) is coming out with the COM-V3 for around $29K and it should go around 75-150 or 300 miles per charge. However, it's a 3 wheeled vehicle- let's just hope it goes fast enough. God bless these innovative companies and Godspeed to them. We're running out of oil, ethanol gets horrible mpg, and the clock is ticking.... Let's get to it folks!

Many people miss the point: these $10,000 electric NEV's (top speed 35mph in WA and Mt, range 40 miles). Are for going to the store and getting a gallon of milk, or running to the bank and the mall. These are not for cruising from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, nor for a 60 mile freeway commute each way. You can still keep your SUV to pack up your 3-4 kids for soccer practice.
