British politician mixes new Mercedes with B5 veggie fuel

British politician Mark Lancaster, a Conservative MP, has decided to go for a drive in a new Mercedes-Benz R-Class powered by biodiesel. Well, partly. Lancaster will be using B5 during a 500 mile trip where he will be "encouraging Britain's families to 'go green' by switching to more environmentally-friendly vehicles or fuel," according to his press release. The R-Class, which should get more than 30 mpg, will use biodiesel supplied by the Biofuels Corporation of Teeside, which opened at the beginning of 2006. Even though Lancaster is only using B5, he said he's "particularly keen to talk to local businesses in Milton Keynes about using renewable fuels in their fleets and thereby cutting emissions."
